10 “Weird” Breakfast Bowl Ideas

Looking for something different to add to your morning routine?

Breakfast bowls are a great way to combine your favourite ingredients into one easy nutritional meal. There are fruit based breakfasts bowls (like chia, açai bowls) or savoury breakfast bowls (wild rice and quail egg or savoury oats). I think we have moved on from the stereotypical breakfasts, well I have anyway (bacon and sausage or corn flakes). I always ate weird breakfasts. I could easily fry or steam some fish with vegetables and have it for breakfast. I always craved something different. Pork, I personally find is too heavy for breakfast so the full English brekkie was never for me, I always felt too ill after it or too full. So I decided to make breakfasts for weirdos like me 😉 photograph them and share them with you.

Homemade granola with goji berries bowl with almond milk.

This is super easy to make.

What you need is:

Almonds, Pecans, fried cherries, sunflower seeds, walnuts, honey, coconut oil, vanilla extract. Mix all the ingredients together. Preheat the oven to 220C (or maximum on your oven.) The mixture will be a bit sticky, spread it all over the baking tray and roast it for 10 mins in the oven at 170 C. Let it cool, before serving and storing. Probably best done the night before so its nice and cool before you eat it. This granola can be kept fr up 2 weeks.

This so easy that it looks more complicated than it is. This is goats yogurt along with chia seeds and some honey. Soak it over night or make it in the morning. Chop a whole lot of fruit like mango, strawberries, pomegranate seeds, blackberries. I added fresh cream and edible flowers to the mix. They look really cute (don’t eat the flowers, they actually taste like grass even a bit bitter).

Savory Oats with cheese pepper and chicken stock. Along with an egg, zucchini, pumpkin, broccoli and baby corn. This is probably my favourite of them all.

Confession!!! I don’t really like oats (or semolina for that matter.) I never have since I was a kid. I envy people who do because life is a bit easier for them. They whip up some oats and add banana and ready to go. That makes me feel a bit nauseous just thinking about it. After years of eating breakfast I hate (before school) I decided to make my own oats. Make them savoury. I mean, why not? Who said it has to be sweet? Get some rolled oats, add chicken stock, sprinkle of salt and pepper, boil it as you would normally. When ready to serve add some mild cheddar. It’s insane! Add any veggies of your choice. To this one, I added pumpkin, baby corn, zucchini and broccoli.

 

Banana, Strawberry açai yogurt with some pear, apricot, macademia nuts, coconut and rambutan.
Mackerel or chicken? Well, I like them both. I added some wild rice and brown rice mix, avocado, radish, purple kale, sesame seeds & oil, lemon juice

This is another easy one. Blend Banana, Strawberry and yogurt together.

Homemade chocolate mouse, pistachios, coconut and pecans.

Add some açai. Add any fruit of your choice.
